Pump Up the Parks is back by popular demand! It will be inflatable family fun on Friday, March 25 from 6-9pm. Kids will be “pumped” for the bounce houses and treats! It’s the perfect cure for cabin fever inside the warmth and safety of the Gospel Center gym at Davisburg United Methodist Church. (Located at the corner of Davisburg Rd. and Crosshill)

$10 per child includes popcorn, soft drinks and hours of fun! Members of Friends of the Parks receive discount admission.

Springfield parks millage would save world class fen, advocates say

“We believe this is such an integral part of our community that the only logical conclusion was a millage – that way it’s planned for and it’s something that’s invested in from the community,” said Marc Burnett, Sr., spokesman for Friends of the Park. “This is really something worth protecting and keeping, not just the land the activities for the kids and the adults.”

“We have a big responsibility and we’re trying to belly up to that responsibility, by trying to give our folks the best bang for the buck. By no means are we unconscious to what’s around us,” Tucker said. “Everyone knows the timing is rough, that’s no secret, but that’s exactly why it’s so important. I think the people need us as much as we need them.”

Springfield Parks and Recreation Director Explains Millage Proposal

With state tax and property tax revenue continuing to decline, the township board faces an increasingly difficult funding decision each year.  Even with a reduction in the Parks and Recreation budget during each of the last several years, the department continues to provide important services, programs and events for our community, while maintaining over 550 acres of parkland.

Maybe you’ve picked up a fact sheet at the Civic Center or received one attached to your STPR baseball photos packet. You might even have received a purple and green brochure in the mail.
